Mount Batur Sunrise Trek
Hike an active volcano in the dark and watch the sunrise spill across Lake Batur and Mount Agung from 1,717m.
The day
Mount Batur is the hike every traveller in Bali talks about — and for good reason. You'll leave your hotel around 2:00am, meet a certified summit guide at the trailhead, and climb in the dark with head-torches for roughly two hours. At the top, you sit with a simple breakfast of eggs steamed in volcanic rock while the sun breaks over Mount Agung across the valley, painting Lake Batur pink and gold below. The descent is easy and scenic, and on the way back you'll stop at a natural hot spring to soak aching legs, or at a coffee plantation to try luwak coffee. Made handles pickup, dropoff, coordination with the mountain guide, and every logistical detail — all you need to do is show up.
